ANDREW BARNARD
CURRICULUM VITAE
A career in the supply and processing of crops into food, feed, and power.
Head of Commercial and Biomass at Blue-NG Ltd, a joint venture between the National Grid and 20C Ltd - a renewable power company building Combined Heat and Power plants in the UK at sites on the gas network.
2003 to 2008 Operations and Oilseeds Director, Grainfarmers plc, the UK’s leading arable farmer co-operative.
1994 to 2003 Commercial Director, Dalgety Agriculture Ltd, the agricultural division of Dalgety plc.
Prior to 1994, various crop production and marketing related roles within Dalgety plc in East Africa, Madagscar and Far East
President of COCERAL (2004-2007), the EU Grains and Agribusiness Association based in Brussels for EU 27 member states, during which time the main focus was consultation with the Commission on the market related ‘Health Check’ reforms of the Common Agricultural Policy announced in 2008 and the introduction of legislation for the Renewable Energy Directive.
President of UKASTA, the UK Agricultural Supply Trade Industry Association, 1999-2000.
Member of the Baltic Exchange

Involvement in Similar Projects
At Blue-NG Ltd, a renewable power generator in the UK which is a joint venture between 20C Ltd and National Grid plc, we have successfully established a local supply chain for Energy Crop biliquid that will be used in our Combined Heat and Power plants.
Previously, while at Grainfarmers plc (UK leading farmer co-operative) I had Board responsibility for arranging farmer contracts, crop conditioning and crop marketing under the EU’s Non-Food Crop and Energy Aid Schemes 2003 to 2008 involving over 5000 farmers. Also the same responsibility previously with Dalgety Agriculture Ltd 1993-2003. This activity involved establishing supply chains for a number of biofuel producers and power generators.
Success Stories
Blue-NG has been succesfull in gaining agreement from the UK Power industry regulator (OFGEM) to build 8 Combined Heat and Power plants each with 20MW output at pressure reduction stations on the gas grid which is sufficient for 400,000 households.
