Presentations invited for the 1st and 2nd workshops in South Africa and Namibia aimed at scoping for activities, attitudes and interests of stakeholders in biofuels and renewable CHP, as an exercise in capacity-building to create sustainable non-food biofuel supply chains.

Breakout sessions focussed on Energy procurement programmes: Investing in CHP schemes based on renewable biofuels. What are the barriers and how can we overcome them? Who needs to be engaged with this project? How can Europe and ACP countries engage to meet these objectives?

Presentations for the 1st Ghana workshop addressed the production of non-food, bio-oil supply chains for renewable energy in Ghana:  Needs, Challenges and Opportunities.
Breakout sessions built on these presentations, and addressed the themes: What’s needed to attract investment into biofuels and CHP in ACP countries in general? The needs, challenges and opportunities for Ghana: Expanding the Ghana initiative regionally.

Breakout sessions looked at:

  • Land Based Sources: Feedstock analysis, CHP Processing options, Possible Markets (SWOT Analysis), Distribution Model, Revenue Management
  • Aquatic Sources: Feedstock production and logistics, CHP Processing options

  • Dunaliella - Adding value to the supply chain
