Presenter Biographies

VITOR VERDELHO

Vitor Verdelho is a board member and Chief Development Officer in A4F-AlgaFuel, S.A. (www.a4f.pt). President of Necton, S.A. (www.necton.pt). Graduated in Physics and has more than 20 years of experience in Microalgae Biotechnology. His activities involved the management of research projects, technology transfer and new business development.

TOPIC: (Emerging) industrial production of Nannochloropsis microalgae biomass around the world

A large number of companies is starting the production of Nannochloropsis microalgae for aquaculture applications and for oil / EPA extraction. The current status of the most relevant - top 30 - companies will be described with evidences of their present development. Further on AlgaFarm - designed, built and operated by A4F in Portugal - will be shown. AlgaFarm is currently the largest outdoor microalgae photobioreactor with + 1.300.000 liter culture volume in operation.
